Battle text reminders
Privacy Policy
How Uprise Tournaments handles creator battle reminders, creator/manager matchup updates and manager Requested inbox alerts sent by text message.
This notice covers the Uprise Tournaments Battle Reminders SMS program only. It supplements the website privacy policy; it does not replace that policy or describe every Uprise Tournaments service. For SMS program information, the specific protections in this notice apply, including the limits on marketing use and sharing below.
SMS frequency and charges
Message frequency varies. Creators normally receive reminders 24 hours and 1 hour before each battle, plus matchup updates, cancellations or a catch-up reminder. Managers receive alerts for new Requested inbox items and updates when their directly assigned creators’ matchups change; manager texts do not include scheduled countdown reminders. Message and data rates may apply. See the SMS Terms & Conditions for program details.
Information used for creator reminders
- Your contact and creator identity: your phone number and the creator account it belongs to, so reminders reach the intended participant.
- Consent confirmation: the manager or administrator who confirms that you agreed, and the time that confirmation is saved. This is a staff confirmation record, not a recording or transcript of your verbal agreement. For optional online signup, we record the disclosure and version you accepted, acceptance and verification times, and a verification provider reference. We do not store your verification code.
- Your choices: whether reminders are enabled, an optional timezone for quiet hours (the device timezone already captured by online registration), and opt-out or rejoin status.
- Battle and delivery records: relevant tournament details, participants and scheduled times; queued reminders and updates; delivery attempts, provider message references, reported status, errors and timestamps.
We use this information to schedule and deliver your battle texts, reflect schedule changes, honor opt-outs, resolve delivery problems and protect the program from misuse. This program is for battle information, not advertising or sales promotions.
For managers who separately opt in through Profile → SMS and verify their own number, we use your signed-in manager account, directly assigned creator relationships, verified phone number, consent disclosure and timestamps, timezone, quiet hours, event choices, Requested inbox item identifiers and types, and private delivery records. Manager settings display only the last four digits of the saved number. Other managers and public Scoreboards cannot read this contact information or manager delivery history.
Requested inbox review links require sign-in and current permission to view the item. Scoreboard links included in matchup texts show public battle details to anyone holding the link. They do not reveal phone numbers, consent, private notes or delivery records. Revoking sharing, resetting a share link, archiving or deleting the tournament makes previously issued links unavailable.
Access and protection
Phone numbers are encrypted in the private SMS storage used by Uprise Tournaments. For creator contacts, full numbers and consent details are available through the app only to the creator’s controlling manager or an authorized administrator in Admin mode. Shared, supervisor-only, preview and public access do not reveal those contact details. Authorized tournament editors can see creator delivery confirmations without seeing phone numbers or consent details.
SMS is delivered through mobile networks; it is not an encrypted messaging channel. Texts may appear on your device’s lock screen or be accessible to others who use your phone.
Service providers and sharing
We use Twilio and mobile carriers to deliver texts, including verification codes you request during optional online signup. They process the destination phone number, message content, routing information and delivery information needed to provide that service. Hosting and storage providers support the program on our behalf.
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
We do not sell or rent mobile phone numbers or SMS consent information. We do not share mobile information with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text-message opt-in data and consent are not transferred to another business for its own messaging. Service providers may process information only as needed to operate and support this program; that does not grant them permission to market to you.
Your choices and records
Receiving battle texts is voluntary. Reply STOP to a Uprise Tournaments text to opt out. A manager or administrator cannot override that request. You may also ask your manager or contact support to turn reminders off or correct your details.
Replying START removes a previous text opt-out. It does not turn on a reminder preference that you or your manager disabled. Managers can turn off their own texts or remove their number under Profile → SMS. See the SMS terms for rejoining and help.
Unused verification requests expire after ten minutes. Unsubmitted requests and failed attempts are removed from active verification storage after 24 hours during normal processing; backup copies may remain until their retention period ends. Consent and limited verification references for completed signups remain with program records. Turning reminders off does not automatically delete existing consent confirmations or delivery history. We keep records needed to operate the program, honor your choices, investigate issues and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations. A limited record that a number opted out may be retained to prevent further texts, including after contact details are removed.
Contact us to request access, correction or deletion of your SMS program information. We may need to verify your identity before acting and may retain limited records where needed to honor opt-outs or meet applicable obligations. A replacement creator number requires a new consent confirmation before reminders can be enabled. A replacement manager number requires a new consent and successful phone-code verification; changing or removing it cancels pending messages for the old enrollment.
